About us
Homecare Assistant was not conceived at a drawing board. It grew out of first-hand experience as a family caregiver. Its purpose is to reduce pressure, save time and help people stay on top of everyday care.
How it began
For almost a year, I cared for my seriously ill mother at home around the clock. It was physically and emotionally exhausting. During the final months, a near-constant sense of fatigue and overwhelm set in.
There simply was no energy left to search for digital tools that might have helped. You just keep going - somehow.
Many years later, I supported my father in managing his various health conditions. After an acute blood sugar crisis in spring 2025, so many questions arose at once that I turned not only to conventional internet searches but, for the first time, intensively to AI. That experience led to my decision to develop Homecare Assistant.
2010 · The crash course
For almost a year, care meant responsibility around the clock - and the experience of how quickly energy and perspective can disappear.
The long haul
Several conditions, multiple doctors and many medications show how complex care at home becomes over the years.
Spring 2025 · The decision
An acute blood sugar crisis and the first helpful experiments with AI provided the impetus to put modern technology to work for home care.
Less pressure in everyday care
Anyone supporting a relative knows the questions that keep returning. This mental load can be wearing.
When something goes wrong because the overview is missing, it is easy to feel that you have failed. Yet many of these situations can be avoided when information, tasks and agreements are brought together reliably.
„Have I remembered everything?“
„Will the medication last through the weekend?“
„What else did the doctor say?“
„Did we administer the eye drops today?“
Technology with a clear purpose
I believe home care is one of the most complex challenges facing society. Yet it often takes place out of sight and receives far less attention than its importance deserves.
I am convinced that digital tools and artificial intelligence can make a genuine difference. HCA is therefore being built AI-native: with modern technology intended to make the many tasks and information streams of everyday care more manageable.
Bring relevant information, tasks and agreements together in one place.
Simplify recurring organisation and make information available more quickly.
Use reliable structures to ease the constant feeling that something has been forgotten.
Our standard
People must be able to rely on the tools used in care. In my main profession as a press spokesperson for a hospital in Hamburg, I also know healthcare from my daily work. But the decisive perspective remains my own as a family caregiver: I know what it feels like to carry responsibility continuously without being allowed to lose track.
Technical reliability is the most important goal in the development of HCA.
Every function should provide practical value, save time and support people in everyday care.
HCA is a tool. It does not replace relatives, doctors, nursing professionals or anyone else involved.
HCA should grow through experience
Every care situation is different. A good solution cannot be created at a desk alone. I welcome feedback about Homecare Assistant - especially situations, tasks and pressures where further support would be useful.
Not every request can be implemented. But every experience helps us understand everyday care better and make HCA more useful step by step.
